7th April 1970: Sam leaps into Signalman Herbert ‘Magic’ Williams, a Navy Seal assigned to Bravo Squad in Vietnam – a team under the command of Sam’s brother, Tom. Having inadvertently warned his team mates of a Vietcong ambush, Sam returns to their base and meets Maggie Dawson, a beautiful, ambitious photojournalist; Maggie is currently engaged in a tour of the fighting, and hopes to win a Pulitzer Prize for her pictures. Learning the date from Al, Sam realises that Tom is due to be killed in action the following day, and so resolves to find a way to save him; however, Al reveals that Sam has not come to prevent his brother’s death, but instead must ensure the success of the squad’s top-secret mission, code-named Operation Lazarus. When Al advises that a squad of enemy ‘Sappers’ are about to attack, Sam faces a difficult situation: if he warns his team mates, he will save their lives – but this will cause him to leap, thereby preventing him from finding a way to save Tom…
